E.2 · Risks of unethical behavior

One shortcut by one behavior analyst rarely stays one person's problem. It can hurt a client, a whole team, and how the public sees our field. Let's walk through who pays the price when ethics slip.

Key takeaway
Unethical behavior creates risk at three levels. You face BACB sanctions, licensure-board action, lawsuits or criminal charges, job loss, and reputational damage. Clients, caregivers, supervisees, and employers can be harmed. The profession can lose public and payer trust and face tighter regulation. When a question asks who's at risk, look past the obvious answer and check all three levels.
